What's included and for how long will I have access to the provided resources?

The Digital Solutions Program works with small businesses to make the most of digital tools and offers broader advice specific to your business needs.

Digital Solutions offers up to 3 hours of one-on-one tailored support as well as unlimited attendance at group workshops or webinars.

You will have access to the short courses and workshops until the program concludes in 2026.

Who is the program for?

Small businesses with fewer than 20 full-time (or equivalent) employees, as well as sole traders. To access the program's services, you must be operating for-profit in Victoria.

How much does it cost to join?

You can apply at no cost, and have immediate access to the workshops*, webinars and short courses. To access the mentoring you'll need to pay the program access fee of $110 - inclusive of GST. Included in this is 3 hours of 1:1 mentoring. Once your application form is submitted, you will have a period of six weeks to take advantage of the mentoring offer.

Is this program government funded?

This program is made possible through funding from the Australian Government, ensuring that there is a subsidised low cost to join.

Thanks to this government support, participants can access the program at an affordable rate, allowing small businesses to benefit from valuable resources and support without straining their budget.

Will the sessions be face to face?

Sessions will more than likely be conducted virtually; however, some mentors do offer face-to-face sessions. To determine eligibility and arrange a face-to-face session, please contact your mentor directly.

What topics can I cover in the sessions?

Our mentors can cover a range of topics based on their expertise, that fall under the following:

- Introduction to digitising your business

- Websites and selling online

- Social media and digital marketing

- Using small business software

- Online security and data privacy

What will we work on during the session?

During your session, you will work on a Digital Action Plan (DAP) with your mentor. This plan includes notes on goals, tasks and any other topics discussed during the session, serving as a tailored roadmap for your digital business development.

How much time do I have to take up the mentoring offer?

Once your application form is submitted, you will have a period of six weeks to take advantage of the mentoring offer, granting you three hours of access at a price of $110 including GST.

Is there a limit to the number of mentors I can work with?

Businesses are required to work with one mentor only for their allocated 3 hours of 1:1 mentoring. Each ABN is eligible for 3 hours only.

Not at all. We focus on smarter ways of working, not just tech. Many clients are in creative, professional, or community-focused industries.

How would the mentoring work?

It depends on your goals. We have a range of options to suit all needs. Some businesses join for short sprints to work through a decision or bottleneck, while others prefer ongoing monthly support.

Can I claim this as a business expense?

Yes. Most clients claim mentoring under professional development, training, coaching, or advisory services.

How are sessions delivered?

All sessions are held via Zoom and available nationally across Australia. In-person support is available for select clients in Melbourne.

What kinds of outcomes could I expect?

What is small business coaching?

It’s a 12-month mentoring service under the Self-Employment Assistance Program that helps people start or grow their business with the support of a qualified business coach.

Who delivers the program?

MIC delivers coaching in the Inner Metropolitan Melbourne region under subcontract to Business Foundations, the approved Self-Employment Assistance provider.

How often will I meet with my coach?

You’ll have six sessions over 12 months - one initial meeting and five follow-up sessions held roughly every two months.

Is there any cost?

No. The program is fully funded for eligible participants.
